Is your life hunky-dory and all that you could ask for? Or are parts of it, or you, not quite the way you want and hope would change?
These seeds of discontent are buried deep within you, helping to make you dissatisfied with the status quo and want it to change. And if you’re to find any peace or contentment in your life, you’re going to need to either learn to live with disappointment that things aren’t the way you want, or else find a way to do something about it.
This discontent lives in the gap between the way things are and the way we want them to be. It is this gap that draws much of your energy and attention, though rarely in a meaningful way that allows you to close it.
Instead, it breeds feelings of unhappiness and actions that tend to make things worse, or at least set the stage for more of the same.
It is this cycle of discontent that you hope to break, driving you onward for more or better as you work to fill the void. But just as one desire gives way to another, each effort to end your discontent only gives rise to another that it rears its ugly head to upset your reverie and hope for a better tomorrow, if not a better today.
It may manifest in various ways. Lack is a common one, since life doesn’t always bring all we want or need. In fact, it rarely does. That’s why you struggle. So your relationship with lack will be an important factor for your focus.
So will conflict, the interaction of individuals with wills of different intentions who are ready to fight to get their way, and maybe even impose it upon others.
My role is not to tell you what to do. It’s to help you see what’s going on and consider the possibilities they offer, and then to unleash within yourself the determination to act upon what you find.
The first place you will act is in the focus of your attention. You will begin to live with one eye turned inward to the energetic currents that flow in you.
Soon, though, as you see what’s going on in you, you will begin to see those same energies at work within others creating the situations and difficulties with which you must contend. You can resist to carve out a space for yourself, but try as you might, you can never change them. You can only change yourself and the energies you reflect into the world.
But when you do, that outer world will slowly begin to change as well. At least, the part of it that impacts you will change. The rest will probably have to come along kicking and screaming, if it does at all.
Here I try to shine a light on these energies and give you understandings and perspectives that may offer you a choice in how to conduct your affairs. My intention, though, is not to change you. That’s totally up to you, a matter for the exercise of your free will without my influence or interference.
My intention is merely to help you see, to listen, and to empower you to expand your own consciousness and bring more of it to bear in how you live your life. And in so doing, I hope you will raise your own vibrations and contribute your energies to the upliftment of the rest of humanity by sharing your love in all you do.
Again, though, that is totally up to you. Your life has value just as it is, and I hope you find it. After all, life is about the experience. So what are you experiencing?
But when push comes to shove and that inner voice makes it impossible to ignore your discontent any longer, change will be needed. Not change imposed by some other person or outside authority, but change inspired by your soul and undertaken by a mind that’s had enough.
Only you can want to change. Only you can choose to change. Only you can decide how, and what you’ll do to accomplish it. I pray that change starts in you, so that your inner world will begin to change the outer you into what you need to be in order to have the life you want, and the kind of world needed to live it in.
When you do, that gap will begin to change as well, growing smaller with every breath, until hopefully one day it disappears altogether as your desires for something else recede and your contentment with your life grows.
You’ll know when you’ve had enough the way things are. When you do, remember these words.
Change yourself. Change your world.
God bless you indeed.
